While developed for sharpening edges, it's also highly effective for creating flat surfaces.
The wide, flat filing surface allows you to quickly spot even the slightest imperfections.

It doesn't have cushioning, so it won't sag!
Edge-sharpening files lack the cushioning effect of files with sandpaper attached to a backing plate.
They offer the advantage of being able to file in all directions, allowing for sharp edges.
